Sklar Metzenbaum Needle Holder, Fenestrated Jaws
A straight needle holder with fenestrated jaws used to grip suturing needles securely while placing sutures during surgery.
The Sklar Metzenbaum Needle Holder is used to hold a suturing needle firmly while the surgeon places stitches during wound closure or tissue approximation, sharing its name with the well known Metzenbaum scissors pattern used elsewhere on the same instrument tray. The fenestrated jaw design, with an opening built into the jaw surface, is intended to help the instrument grip the needle securely while managing the balance and feel of the tool in the surgeon's hand during repeated use across a procedure.
Being a straight pattern, it gives the surgeon a direct line of approach when placing sutures in a field that does not require a curved or angled reach. Needle holders of this type are used across general and other surgical specialties wherever manual suturing is performed with a straight approach to the tissue.
It measures 7-1/4 inches overall. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between procedures.
