Sklar Merit Foot Rot Shears, Heavy, 9 Inch
Heavy duty 9 inch shears used by veterinary and farm staff to trim overgrown or diseased hoof tissue during routine livestock foot care.
The Sklar Merit Foot Rot Shears are a heavy duty cutting tool used in livestock hoof care to trim away overgrown, damaged or diseased hoof tissue, a routine part of managing conditions such as foot rot in cattle, sheep and goats. Measuring 9 inches, the shears are built with enough strength and leverage to cut through tough hoof material that would be too dense for lighter scissors or trimming tools, letting the handler reshape or clear affected tissue as part of treatment.
Regular hoof trimming and management of foot rot is an important part of herd health, since untreated hoof disease can lead to lameness and reduced productivity across a herd. This tool is used by veterinarians, farm hands and professional hoof trimmers as part of routine flock and herd maintenance as well as targeted treatment of individual animals showing signs of foot disease.
Built from durable metal to withstand heavy field use, the shears can be cleaned between animals to reduce the risk of spreading infection through shared equipment. They are typically kept in a farm veterinary or hoof care kit.
