Sklar Merit Ferris Smith Tissue Forceps, 1x2 Teeth
A 7 inch straight tissue forceps with 1x2 teeth and a serrated tying platform, used to grasp and hold tissue securely during surgical procedures.
The Sklar Merit Ferris Smith Tissue Forceps is a grasping instrument used to hold tissue firmly during surgical dissection, retraction and suturing. The tip carries a 1x2 tooth pattern, meaning one tooth on one jaw interlocks with two on the opposing jaw, giving a secure bite on tougher or fascia like tissue that might otherwise slip from a smoother jawed forceps.
Behind the teeth, a cross serrated tying platform allows the instrument to also be used to grip and manipulate suture material during knot tying, adding a second function to the same tool. Measuring 7 inches with a straight pattern, it is sized for general surgical use across a range of procedures where controlled tissue handling is needed.
This type of forceps is widely used in general, plastic and reconstructive surgery, valued for the combination of a strong tissue grip with a tying friendly platform. Manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel, it withstands repeated autoclave sterilisation over its working life. It is a standard item in general surgery instrument trays.
