Sklar Merit Doyen Intestinal Forceps, Straight
A straight atraumatic forceps used to gently occlude the bowel wall during gastrointestinal surgery, protecting delicate intestinal tissue.
The Sklar Merit Doyen Intestinal Forceps is designed to clamp across the bowel during gastrointestinal surgery without damaging the delicate intestinal wall, a task that requires a gentler grip than a standard hemostatic clamp can provide. The jaws are long and curved to conform to the shape of the bowel, spreading pressure evenly along their length so the tissue can be occluded to prevent leakage of contents while a resection, anastomosis or repair is carried out.
This listing is the straight pattern of the instrument, giving surgeons the option to select the geometry that best suits the segment of bowel and the surgical approach being used. Instruments of this type are a standard part of general and colorectal surgery, used whenever the bowel needs to be temporarily controlled during an open or laparoscopic assisted procedure.
Made from surgical grade stainless steel, the forceps are built to withstand the repeated autoclave sterilisation cycles required in a hospital operating theatre. It is commonly included in gastrointestinal and general surgery instrument sets alongside other bowel clamps and atraumatic forceps.
