Sklar Mayo Russian Tissue Forceps, Fenestrated
A fenestrated jaw tissue forceps with grooved handles, used to grip firm tissue with a secure, non slip hold during surgery.
The Sklar Mayo Russian Tissue Forceps, commonly known simply as Russian forceps, uses fenestrated, cupped jaws rather than pointed teeth to grasp tissue, spreading the holding force over a broader surface area and reducing localised crush trauma compared with a sharply toothed forceps. This design is particularly suited to holding firmer, bulkier tissue such as bowel wall, fascia or muscle, where a secure grip is needed but excessive point pressure could damage the tissue.
The grooved, slotted handles give the surgeon a stable, non slip grip even when the instrument is used with gloved, possibly wet hands during a lengthy procedure. This pattern is a general surgery staple, used across abdominal, gynaecological and thoracic procedures wherever tissue needs to be held firmly without excessive trauma.
It measures 9 inches overall. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between cases.
