Sklar Mayo-Hegar Masson Needle Holder, Serrated
An extended length, serrated jaw needle holder used to place sutures deep within the surgical field during major procedures.
The Sklar Mayo-Hegar Masson Needle Holder combines the well known Mayo-Hegar jaw and ratchet design with an extended handle length, giving surgeons the reach needed to suture at depth, such as deep within the pelvis or abdominal cavity, where a standard length needle holder would not comfortably reach the tissue being closed.
The serrated jaw grips the suturing needle firmly and resists rotation as the surgeon drives it through tissue, while the locking ratchet at the handle holds the needle in a fixed position between passes if needed. This longer pattern is used in general, urological, gynaecological and colorectal surgery whenever the surgical field is deep enough that a standard needle holder length becomes awkward to use effectively.
This row measures 10-1/2 inches, and the listing includes an additional 11-1/2 inch length option, both sharing the same serrated jaw pattern. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated sterilisation and reuse.
