Sklar Marschik Tonsil Seizing Forceps, 3x3 Prongs
A pronged grasping forceps with a thumb handle, used to seize and control tonsillar tissue during tonsillectomy procedures.
The Sklar Marschik Tonsil Seizing Forceps is used during tonsillectomy to take a firm hold of the tonsil so the surgeon can apply traction while dissecting it free from the surrounding tissue bed. The interlocking 3x3 prong pattern grips the tonsil securely enough to maintain steady tension throughout the dissection, which helps keep the surgical plane clear and controlled.
The thumb handle design, distinct from a ring handled instrument, allows the surgeon a different grip and finer control during the manipulation needed in this confined area of the oropharynx. ENT surgeons use this forceps as a standard part of a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy instrument set, alongside dissectors, snares and haemostatic forceps sized for paediatric and adult throat surgery.
It measures 8-3/4 inches overall. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between procedures.
