Sklar Lurz Ureter Clamp, Curved 8-1/4 Inch
A curved clamp used to gently occlude the ureter and control tissue during kidney and urological surgical procedures.
The Sklar Lurz Ureter Clamp, also known in this pattern as the Lurz Satinsky clamp, is used in urological surgery to occlude the ureter or grasp adjacent tissue without causing the crushing damage a standard haemostat would. Because the ureter is a thin walled, delicate structure, surgeons need a clamp with jaws designed to hold it securely enough to control fluid flow or bleeding while still protecting the tissue from trauma that could compromise healing.
The curved shape of this clamp allows it to be positioned around the ureter from a favourable angle during procedures such as nephrectomy, ureteral repair or other renal and upper urinary tract surgery. Urologists and general surgeons operating in the retroperitoneum use instruments of this type as part of a dedicated renal or ureteral surgery set.
It measures 8-1/4 inches overall. The listing includes a second configuration alongside this curved pattern. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel for repeated sterilisation and use.
