Sklar Lockwood Abdominal Demarcator, Angled Hinge
A clamp style instrument with an angled hinge used to crush a demarcation line on bowel tissue before resection in abdominal surgery.
The Sklar Lockwood Abdominal Demarcator is a specialised clamp used in bowel surgery to crush a clear line across the bowel wall, marking exactly where the tissue will be divided or where a clamp will later be applied. Creating this crushed line helps reduce contamination and bleeding at the resection edge and gives the surgical team a consistent visual reference during the procedure.
The angled hinge design lets the jaws be positioned around the bowel from a more convenient angle than a straight hinged clamp would allow, which is useful when working in the confined space of the abdominal cavity. General and colorectal surgeons use this instrument during bowel resections, anastomoses and related abdominal procedures, typically alongside bowel clamps and dissecting scissors on the same tray.
It measures 12-3/4 inches overall, a length suited to reaching across the abdominal field. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is designed to be cleaned, inspected and sterilised between procedures as part of a standard reusable instrument set.
