Sklar Kocher Forceps, Straight 12 or 14 Inch
A straight forceps available in 12 and 14 inch lengths, used to grasp, clamp and hold tissue during deep abdominal and general surgical procedures.
The Sklar Kocher Forceps is a straight instrument offered in 12 inch and 14 inch lengths, both longer than a standard general purpose forceps, giving the surgeon the reach needed to work within deeper body cavities where the target tissue sits well below the skin surface. The Kocher jaw pattern is known for its toothed tip and cross-serrated jaw, a combination that grips tissue firmly and resists slipping under tension, which is useful when clamping or manipulating tougher tissue during abdominal or pelvic surgery.
Because of its length, the instrument is typically reserved for cases requiring deep access rather than routine superficial work. General surgeons and specialists performing open abdominal or pelvic procedures use this longer Kocher pattern when a shorter forceps would not comfortably reach the operative site.
As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it should be cleaned and sterilized between cases following standard reprocessing protocols, with the jaw teeth and serrations checked before use to confirm a secure, reliable grip.
