Sklar Econo Graefe Fixation Forceps
A fine, disposable fixation forceps without a locking catch, used to gently stabilise and hold the eye steady during ophthalmic surgery. Supplied disposable for single use.
The Econo Graefe fixation forceps from Sklar are a fine, disposable ophthalmic instrument used to stabilise and hold the globe of the eye steady while the surgeon performs another step of the procedure. Unlike some fixation forceps, this build does not have a locking catch, meaning the surgeon maintains continuous manual control over the grip pressure throughout the moment of fixation rather than locking the jaws closed, which some ophthalmic surgeons prefer for finer control over how firmly the tissue is held.
At four and a quarter inches, the forceps are compact and lightweight, suited to the close, precise handwork required in eye surgery where even small movements matter. Supplied disposable, the forceps arrive with a sharp, accurately aligned tip for every use and are discarded afterward, which is important for an ophthalmic instrument where tip precision directly affects patient safety and comfort during the procedure.
Ophthalmic theatres and eye clinics performing routine ophthalmic surgery commonly keep this pattern in stock as a standard fixation instrument for cataract and other eye procedures.
