Sklar Econo Ballenger Sponge Forceps, Serrated
A disposable straight sponge forceps with a serrated tip, used to hold and place gauze swabs during surgical site preparation and wound packing. Supplied disposable for single use and packed 12 to a unit for routine clinic and hospital stock.
The Econo Ballenger sponge forceps from Sklar are a disposable ring-handled instrument used to hold, position, and remove gauze swabs and sponges during surgery. The straight, serrated tip grips folded gauze firmly enough to swab, prep, or pack a surgical site without the material slipping free, and the ratcheted box lock allows the surgeon or assistant to secure the grip hands-free while attending to other steps of the procedure.
At seven inches, the forceps offer enough reach for general surgical field preparation and for packing deeper wounds or cavities where fingers alone cannot safely reach. Supplied disposable, the forceps are used for one case and discarded, avoiding cross-contamination risk between patients and removing the need for sterilisation turnaround on an instrument that is used frequently throughout a typical case.
This makes them a practical, low-cost item for operating theatres, labour wards, and outpatient procedure rooms that get through sponge forceps in volume. Packed twelve to a box, they suit routine restocking for departments performing surgical prepping and dressing on a daily basis.
