Sklar Duval Grasping Forceps, Wide Jaws
A five and three quarter inch straight forceps with wide jaws, used to grasp lung and other soft tissue gently but securely during surgery.
The Sklar Duval Grasping Forceps is designed to hold soft, delicate tissue such as lung during surgery without crushing or tearing it, a risk that a narrower or more aggressively toothed instrument could pose to fragile pulmonary tissue. Its jaws are wide and shaped to distribute pressure across a broader surface area, giving the surgeon a secure hold while still handling the tissue gently.
At five and three quarter inches with a straight pattern, it suits reaching into the chest cavity during thoracic procedures where lung tissue needs to be retracted, positioned or held steady for inspection or resection. Grasping forceps of this kind are used by thoracic surgeons and their assistants during lobectomy, pneumonectomy and other lung surgery, as well as more broadly wherever soft, easily damaged tissue must be handled carefully.
As a stainless steel instrument, it is built for the repeated cleaning and sterilisation cycles standard in thoracic instrument sets and for continued use across many procedures in a hospital theatre.
