Sklar Cooley Anastomosis Clamp, Curved
A 6-1/2 inch curved atraumatic clamp used to occlude blood vessels gently during anastomosis in cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures.
The Sklar Cooley Anastomosis Clamp is a curved vascular clamp, available at 6-1/2 inches or 6-1/4 inches, designed to occlude a blood vessel gently and evenly while the surgeon performs an anastomosis, the surgical joining of two vessel ends. Because the clamped vessel wall will need to remain viable and undamaged for the anastomosis to heal properly, this clamp is built with an atraumatic jaw pattern that distributes pressure across the vessel without the crushing force of a general purpose hemostatic forceps.
The curved shape of the jaw allows the surgeon to position the clamp around the vessel from a favorable angle without obstructing the working space needed to place sutures along the anastomosis line. This kind of instrument is a fundamental part of cardiovascular and vascular surgery, used during procedures such as bypass grafting, vessel repair and transplant surgery wherever a temporary, gentle occlusion is required.
Cardiovascular and vascular surgeons rely on a range of Cooley clamp sizes for different vessel diameters. As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it is cleaned, inspected for jaw softness of grip and sterilized between surgical cases.
