Sklar Carmalt Hemostatic Forceps, Curved
A 12 inch curved hemostatic forceps with cross-serrated jaw tips and longitudinal serration along the blades, used for clamping larger vessels and tissue pedicles in general and vascular surgery.
The Sklar Carmalt hemostatic forceps is a 12 inch curved clamping instrument built for surgeons who need secure control of thicker vessels and tissue bundles. The jaw tips carry a cross-serrated pattern while the remainder of the blade is longitudinally serrated, giving the instrument a strong, non-slip grip across its full working length.
This combination pattern is typical of Carmalt-style forceps, which are favored in general, gynecologic and vascular procedures where a wider bite is needed to occlude a larger pedicle before ligation. The ratcheted handle locks the jaws closed so the surgeon or assistant can release their grip while the tissue remains clamped, freeing hands for suturing or cutting.
Operating room staff, scrub technicians and sterile processing departments handle this instrument as part of standard general surgery trays. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is intended for reuse after proper cleaning, inspection and sterilization between cases in line with the facility's protocols.
