Sklar Buck Suture Scissors, Sharp Hooked Blade
Straight suture removal scissors with one hooked, sharp blade, used to lift and cut sutures cleanly without catching or dragging on the skin.
The Sklar Buck Suture Scissors are straight scissors designed for removing sutures once a wound has healed. One blade ends in a small hook while the other is sharp, so the hooked tip can slide under a suture and lift it away from the skin before the sharp edge cuts it cleanly. This reduces the chance of catching healthy tissue while a clinician removes stitches in a clinic, ward or outpatient setting.
At five and three quarter inches, the scissors are sized for close, controlled work near the skin surface rather than deep surgical fields. Nurses, physicians and physician assistants commonly use suture scissors of this style during post operative follow up visits, wound checks and minor procedures.
Because suture removal is routine and frequent, a dedicated hooked blade instrument speeds the task and lowers the risk of nicking the patient, making it a practical addition to any minor procedure tray or dressing cart in a clinic or hospital ward.
