Sklar Bergstroem Gall Duct Forceps, Narrow, Curved
An 8-1/4 inch narrow, curved forceps used to grasp and manipulate the gall duct and surrounding structures during biliary surgery.
The Sklar Bergstroem Gall Duct Forceps is a specialized grasping instrument used during biliary tract surgery to handle the gall duct and adjacent tissue with the narrow, precise grip that abdominal surgery in this anatomical region requires. Measuring 8-1/4 inches with a narrow, curved profile, it is shaped to reach into the confined space around the biliary tree without disturbing surrounding structures such as the hepatic artery or portal vein, an important consideration given how closely packed these structures are in the porta hepatis.
General and hepatobiliary surgeons use forceps of this pattern during cholecystectomy, common bile duct exploration and related procedures where fine, controlled handling of ductal tissue is needed. The curved shaft allows the surgeon to approach the duct at an angle that would be awkward with a straight instrument, improving both visibility and control.
As with other Sklar surgical forceps, it is manufactured for repeated clinical use with standard hospital sterilization between cases, and is typically included in general surgery instrument sets built for hepatobiliary and upper abdominal procedures.
