Sklar Baby Doyen Intestinal Forceps, Straight
A 6-1/2 inch straight intestinal forceps with flexible, diagonally serrated blades, used to occlude bowel gently during intestinal surgery. It is supplied for repeated sterilization and reuse in hospital and clinic settings.
The Sklar Baby Doyen Intestinal Forceps is a straight bowel clamp measuring 6-1/2 inches, built with flexible blades and diagonal serrations designed to occlude the intestine without crushing or perforating the bowel wall. The flexibility of the blades allows the jaws to conform to the shape and give of intestinal tissue as pressure is applied, distributing the clamping force more evenly than a rigid jaw would, which reduces the risk of tissue damage at the clamp site.
This instrument is used during bowel resection and anastomosis to temporarily occlude the intestine, preventing spillage of contents while the surgeon works, and its baby size makes it appropriate for pediatric patients or for use on smaller segments of bowel in adult surgery. General and colorectal surgeons rely on Doyen pattern clamps as a standard part of intestinal surgery trays, and this listing includes two of the same 6-1/2 inch size for use as a pair during bowel resection, since intestinal clamps are typically applied on both sides of the segment being resected.
It is reprocessed for reuse after each procedure.
