Reliance Relistat Calcium Alginate Nasal Wool
A calcium alginate nasal wool that absorbs up to 20 times its own weight, forming a soft gel to treat minor nasal bleeds and wounds while easy to remove.
Relistat nasal wool is composed of soft, non-woven fibres shaped as twisted ropes, made from calcium alginate and suitable for all minor nasal bleeds and wounds. Once in contact with blood or wound fluid, the calcium alginate forms a soft gel, which maintains a moist healing environment around the area rather than allowing it to dry out, a quality generally associated with faster, more comfortable healing.
The material is highly absorbent, able to take up to 20 times its own weight in fluid, useful for managing a bleed that continues to produce fluid over a period of time. Despite forming a gel once wet, it remains easy to remove, reducing the disturbance and discomfort that can happen when a dried dressing sticks to the wound or nasal tissue during removal.
Its soft, comfortable texture makes it more tolerable for the patient than a firmer packing material. It suits first aiders, nurses and ENT departments treating minor nose bleeds and similar small wounds where a gentle, absorbent packing material is needed.
