The Severe Bleeding Control Kit is a single use trauma pack aimed at trained first aiders, security personnel, workplace safety teams and emergency responders who may face a severe bleeding injury before paramedics arrive. Standard first aid kits are generally built around minor cuts and grazes, so this kit gathers together the essential items needed for major bleeding, including a haemostatic wound treatment, a large trauma dressing and a glove, so that the responder is not searching through an unsuitable kit while a casualty is losing blood.
Because it is designed as a simple, self contained pack, it is quick to grab and use under pressure, and because multiple packs can be deployed together it also supports a coordinated response during a mass casualty incident where several casualties need bleeding control at once. This makes it a suitable addition to vehicle first aid provision, workplace trauma stations, security response bags and any setting where the risk of serious bleeding injury has been identified as part of a first aid needs assessment.
