Reliance Medical Face Shield with Plastic Valve
A resuscitation face shield with a one-way plastic valve, allowing expired air ventilation while acting as a barrier to help prevent infection.
The Face Shield with Plastic Valve is a rescue breathing aid used by first aiders, lifeguards, workplace responders and members of the public trained in CPR to provide a safer method of delivering rescue breaths to a casualty. The transparent plastic film that forms the shield is fitted with a one-way valve, which allows expired air to pass through and ventilate the casualty's lungs during a rescue breath, while the valve design helps prevent fluids or exhaled air from the casualty passing back toward the rescuer.
This film acts as a physical barrier between the rescuer and casualty during mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, reducing the direct skin and fluid contact that would otherwise occur with unprotected rescue breathing, which can make bystanders and trained first aiders alike more willing to act quickly in an emergency.
Because it is small, lightweight and simple to carry, the face shield is commonly kept on a keyring, in a wallet or attached to a first aid kit, so it is close at hand whenever CPR might be needed, whether at work, at home or out in public.
