The CoolTherm Dual Purpose Face Mask is a burn dressing built to serve two distinct roles from a single product, giving first aiders more flexibility from one item in their kit. As supplied, the dressing has perforated apertures at the eye, nose and mouth positions, which can be removed with ease to quickly prepare the dressing for use directly on the face, aligning the openings with the casualty's features so breathing and vision are not obstructed.
Alternatively, if the perforated sections are left in place rather than removed, the same dressing becomes suitable for covering larger body areas such as a limb or the torso, where the mask shape simply acts as a large flat dressing rather than a fitted face covering. This dual purpose design offers additional flexibility for kits that need to be ready for either a facial burn or a larger area burn without carrying two separate specialised dressings.
It follows the wider CoolTherm approach to burn treatment, aimed at cooling and soothing the injury while remaining non-adherent to burnt skin.
