A compact trauma bandage that unfolds into a 20 by 20 inch wound pad, large enough to cover the back or chest for major shrapnel wounds or burns.
The Blast Bandage is a trauma dressing designed for military medics, tactical first responders and civilian trauma kits that need to cover unusually large wound areas without carrying an oversized dressing. Despite being packed down to roughly the size of a standard four inch combat bandage, it opens out to provide a 20 by 20 inch treatment area, which is large enough to cover most of a casualty's back or chest.
This makes it particularly suited to injuries from blast fragments or shrapnel, where wounds are often scattered across a wide area rather than concentrated at a single point, as well as to significant burns that would otherwise need several smaller dressings applied together. Because it is stored in a compact package, it takes up minimal space in a trauma pouch or medical bag while still being ready to deploy a large wound pad when it is genuinely needed.
It suits military and tactical medical kits, mass casualty response bags and any first aid setup where the risk of large area trauma has been identified.
