Reliance Foam Underwrap for Casting, 7cm x 27.5m
A soft foam underwrap measuring 7cm by 27.5m, applied beneath plaster or synthetic casting material to cushion and protect the skin underneath.
Foam underwrap is a soft padding material used beneath plaster of paris or synthetic casting tape, applied around a limb before the rigid casting material is wrapped on top. 5m long, giving enough length to pad a limb fully during a casting or splinting procedure without needing to change rolls partway through.
The foam layer protects the skin from direct contact with the harder casting material, reducing the risk of pressure points, rubbing or irritation while the cast is worn, and it also helps absorb minor shocks and knocks during everyday movement. It is used by orthopaedic staff, emergency department clinicians and physiotherapy teams wherever a cast or rigid splint is being fitted, whether for a fracture, sprain or post surgical immobilisation.
As an underlying layer rather than a finished product on its own, it is typically stocked alongside casting tape, crepe bandage and other splinting supplies in a clinic or hospital plaster room.
