Mercury Free Sphygmomanometer
A manual, mercury free sphygmomanometer using an LCD column and stethoscope method, measuring blood pressure across a 0 to 300 mmHg range. It suits general practice, hospital and clinic settings.
The Mercury Free Sphygmomanometer gives clinicians a manual blood pressure measurement tool that avoids the use of mercury, in line with the wider move away from mercury based medical instruments for safety and environmental reasons. It uses an LCD column display in place of a traditional mercury column, with a minimal scale of 2 mmHg on the column and a numerical display resolution of 1 mmHg, giving clear readings during measurement.
The device is used with the classic stethoscope auscultation method, measuring across a range of 0 to 300 mmHg with an accuracy within plus or minus 3 mmHg, and it also reads pulse rate across 30 to 200 beats per minute with an accuracy within plus or minus 5 percent. Pressurisation is applied manually via a hand bulb, and depressurisation is controlled manually through an air release valve, keeping the mechanism simple and familiar to any clinician trained on manual blood pressure equipment.
5V supply from three AA batteries and includes a nylon cuff with silk printing along with a PVC bladder and bulb, suiting general practice, clinics and hospital wards.
