Lower Limb Fracture Instrument Set
A lower limb fracture instrument set with T-type taps, drill bits, a guide drill, plate bender and periosteal elevators, used in orthopaedic plate fixation surgery.
This lower limb fracture instrument set brings together the instrumentation an orthopaedic surgeon needs to prepare bone and place fixation hardware during lower limb plate and nail surgery. The set includes T-type taps in more than one size for threading bone ahead of screw placement, matched drill bits for the corresponding screw sizes, and a guide drill to keep the drilling path aligned with the planned screw trajectory.
A plate bender is included for contouring fixation plates to the shape of the bone at the fracture site, along with lengthened periosteal elevators in two widths for lifting and protecting the periosteum during exposure. Further instruments in the set support broken screw or nail removal and reduction of the fracture fragments during fixation.
Sets of this kind are used by orthopaedic and trauma surgeons treating fractures of the tibia, fibula and femur, where a full, matched instrument tray helps keep the fixation procedure organised from initial exposure through to final plate or nail placement.
