The Dräger TwinStar HEPA Plus combines a mechanical breathing system filter with a heat and moisture exchanger in a single disposable housing of approximately 90 millilitres internal volume. The filter medium intercepts particles carried in the gas stream, while the exchange element recovers heat and moisture from expired gas and returns them on the following inspiration, providing passive humidification without a heated humidifier in the circuit.
