This is a reusable water trap in the neonatal (N) configuration. It is fitted into the breathing circuit and collects condensate that forms as humidified gas cools, so that fluid does not accumulate in the hose or reach the patient connection. The trap is emptied in use and reprocessed between patients rather than discarded.
