The Dräger humidifier-bubbler is a bottle-type humidifier that screws onto an oxygen flowmeter outlet. Oxygen is directed below the water line and bubbles up through the reservoir, picking up moisture on its way to the outlet port, which raises the delivered gas to approximately 60 per cent relative humidity.
It is a passive accessory with no heater or electrical connection. Bubble humidifiers of this type are used in the Operating Room and in general oxygen therapy for adults, where oxygen is delivered by cannula or mask and unconditioned gas would dry the upper airway.
