DeBakey Atraumatic Vascular Clamp, 60 Degree 18cm
A 60 degree, 18cm DeBakey atraumatic vascular clamp used to temporarily occlude larger vessels during vascular surgery with minimal trauma.
The DeBakey atraumatic vascular clamp is designed to temporarily occlude a blood vessel during vascular surgery while minimising trauma to the delicate vessel wall, using finely serrated, atraumatic jaws that grip firmly without crushing tissue. This version is angled at 60 degrees and measures 18 centimetres in length, giving surgeons a specific jaw angle suited to accessing and clamping vessels at that particular orientation during a procedure, which can make positioning easier depending on the surgical approach being used.
Atraumatic clamping is especially important in vascular and cardiac surgery, where surgeons need reliable control of blood flow through a vessel without damaging the tissue in a way that could affect healing or long term vessel function once the clamp is removed. This kind of clamp is used in a range of vascular procedures, from bypass surgery to vessel repair, wherever temporary occlusion of a larger vessel is needed while the surgical team works on or around it.
As a reusable surgical steel instrument, it is cleaned, inspected and sterilized between cases and is a standard part of vascular and cardiothoracic surgery instrument trays.
