Bionex Spoon Excavator, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel spoon excavator used in dentistry to remove decayed tissue and debris from a tooth cavity during restorative treatment.
The Bionex Spoon Excavator is a stainless steel dental instrument with a small, rounded, spoon shaped working end used to scoop out decayed or softened tissue from within a tooth cavity before a filling or other restorative material is placed. Its curved edge allows the dentist to work along the contour of the cavity, removing compromised tissue in a controlled, deliberate manner while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
This kind of hand instrument gives the clinician tactile feedback that a rotary drill alone does not provide, which many dentists find useful for judging exactly how much decayed material remains and when the cavity has been adequately cleaned out. Made from stainless steel, it is autoclavable and built to withstand the repeated cleaning and sterilisation cycles expected of reusable dental instruments used across many patients in a busy practice.
Dentists and dental hygienists rely on spoon excavators as a standard, frequently used part of the restorative dentistry instrument tray, kept alongside drills and other cavity preparation tools. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it should be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between patients.
