3M Tegaderm CHG Gel Pad for IV Insertion Sites
A transparent antimicrobial gel pad containing chlorhexidine gluconate, used to protect and conform around IV and catheter insertion sites.
The 3M Tegaderm CHG Chlorhexidine Gluconate Gel Pad is an antimicrobial dressing component used by nursing and vascular access teams to protect percutaneous insertion sites such as those for IV catheters and central lines. It combines a chlorhexidine gluconate gel with a transparent format, so clinicians can visually monitor the insertion site for redness, swelling or drainage without needing to lift or remove the pad, an important consideration for infection surveillance in patients with indwelling devices.
The gel pad is designed to conform around a wide variety of percutaneous devices rather than a single catheter type, giving it flexibility across different vascular access and drainage line applications. This combination of antimicrobial protection and site visibility is intended to support infection prevention protocols in hospital and clinical settings where devices are left in place for extended periods.
It is used as part of a securement and dressing routine rather than as a standalone catheter product.
