3M Medical Tape, available in Model 1533 and the longer Model 1533L, is a single sided microporous rayon nonwoven fabric tape consisting of a tan rayon nonwoven cloth backing reinforced with an acrylic binder and coated with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. The liner is a silicone-treated, polyethylene-coated bleached Kraft paper applied to one side only.
This nonwoven cloth construction gives the tape a soft, fabric-like feel while still providing dependable adhesion, distinguishing it from the plastic film tapes elsewhere in 3M's medical component range. As with other tapes in this series, it is intended as a raw material for manufacturers assembling health care medical devices rather than a tape applied directly to a patient by clinical staff.
