3M Medical Foam Tape, Polyethylene Foam, 1773
A single-sided, white polyethylene foam tape coated with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, used in the construction of health care medical devices.
3M Medical Foam Tape, catalog number 1773, is a single-sided tape built from closed cell, white polyethylene foam and coated with a pressure-sensitive tackified acrylic adhesive. The liner backing it is a silicone-treated, polyethylene-coated bleached Kraft paper applied to one side only, and the tape is wound with the liner on the outside of the roll.
This kind of component tape is generally used in the manufacture or assembly of health care medical devices, where a closed cell foam layer with reliable adhesion is needed as part of the device construction rather than as a wound care or securement product applied directly to a patient. Its foam backing gives it some cushioning and conformability, useful where the tape needs to bridge small gaps or uneven surfaces in a device assembly.
Manufacturers and converters working with 3M's medical component tape range use this product as a raw material input. It is stocked under a single catalog number.
