3M Kerramax Care Super-Absorbent Dressing is designed for wounds producing high amounts of exudate that would quickly overwhelm a standard absorbent dressing. Its unique wicking layer evenly distributes fluid both horizontally and vertically throughout the dressing, drawing exudate away from the wound bed and spreading it across the full area of the pad so the dressing's whole absorption capacity gets used rather than saturating in one spot while other areas remain dry.
Once absorbed, exudate, including any bacteria it carries, is locked away within the dressing structure, helping to reduce the risk of leakage and the associated maceration of surrounding skin that heavy exudate can otherwise cause. This locking away of bacteria alongside fluid also supports a cleaner wound environment between dressing changes, which matters for chronic or heavily draining wounds that require extended wear time.
This product is transitioning from the 3M brand name to Solventum branding, and is supplied under eight catalog numbers covering a range of sizes and pack formats.
