3M Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is designed to help prevent skin damage before it starts, rather than treating it after it has occurred. It is a terpolymer-based, alcohol-free barrier film, described as the original of its kind, that dries to form a gentle, breathable, waterproof and transparent coating on the skin.
Once applied, this coating is intended to protect the skin from friction, shear, adhesive trauma and exposure to body fluids for up to 72 hours, which supports skin integrity in patients who are incontinent, have fragile skin, or need repeated dressing changes and tape removal. Because the film is alcohol-free, it is formulated to avoid the stinging sensation that some barrier products can cause when applied to broken or irritated skin.
