The 3M Attest Auto-Reader, model 490, is a dual reader designed to incubate and automatically read compatible Attest Biological Indicators used to monitor steam sterilization or vaporized hydrogen peroxide, or VH2O2, sterilization cycles. Depending on the indicator used, the reader incubates the sample at 140 degrees Fahrenheit, or 60 degrees Celsius, and can deliver a final fluorescent result in as little as 24 minutes, a considerable time saving compared with longer incubation methods, which lets sterile processing staff release instruments back into circulation more quickly once a passing result is confirmed.
Because it can read indicators for two different sterilization modalities, a single unit can serve a facility that runs both steam and VH2O2 sterilization, reducing the need for separate reading equipment.
