3M Adaptic Non-Adhering Petroleum Wound Dressing
A petroleum emulsion dressing with a knitted cellulose acrylate mesh, designed to prevent wound adherence while allowing fluid to pass through.
The 3M Adaptic Non-Adhering Dressing is a wound contact layer containing a petroleum emulsion carried on a unique knitted cellulose acrylate mesh. Clinicians place it directly against the wound, where the petroleum emulsion helps prevent the dressing from sticking to newly forming or regenerating tissue, while the open, knitted mesh structure still allows wound fluid to transfer through to a secondary absorbent dressing placed on top.
This combination is intended to protect delicate healing tissue during the wound's more vulnerable early stages while still supporting proper exudate management through the layered dressing system. Reducing wound adherence in this way helps minimise patient pain during dressing changes and removals, since the outer dressing can be changed without pulling on tissue that has grown into the contact layer itself.
This product is transitioning from the 3M brand name to Solventum branding, and is supplied under six catalog numbers, likely reflecting different sheet sizes within the range.
